Business Week | Menopause in the Workplace

Menopause in the Workplace: From Awareness to Action
Understanding the impact, supporting your people and creating a workplace where conversations are easier.
Date: Friday 16 October 2026
Time: 08:30–10:00
Location: Co-Space, St Albans
Menopause is increasingly part of the workplace conversation – but awareness is only the starting point. What can businesses and managers actually do to better support their people?
Join us for a practical breakfast session with Julie Grimes, Certified Menopause Coach and Founder of Me vs Menopause, exploring how menopause and perimenopause can affect people at work and, importantly, the realistic steps employers can take to make a positive difference.
Alongside the session, you’ll enjoy delicious grazing-style breakfast platters courtesy of our event sponsor, The Pink Elephant, with time to network and connect with professionals from across the local business community.
Designed for businesses of all sizes, this session will move beyond simply raising awareness. The focus will be on helping business owners, managers and people leaders better understand the impact of menopause, provide appropriate support and feel more confident having conversations with employees.
What do businesses need to understand?
Julie will provide a straightforward introduction to menopause and perimenopause, looking at the different ways symptoms can affect people in the workplace, common misconceptions and the potential impact on confidence, wellbeing and performance.
What can businesses actually do?
Supporting employees through menopause doesn’t necessarily require a large HR team or a significant budget.
We’ll explore practical and realistic ways businesses can provide support, with ideas that can be adapted for organisations of different sizes. From simple workplace adjustments to creating a more supportive culture, the focus will be on actions that are achievable in the real world.
How do we have better conversations?
For many business owners and managers, knowing how to approach the subject can be one of the biggest barriers.
Julie will share practical guidance to help you approach conversations sensitively and confidently, including what to say, what to avoid and how to respond if an employee raises the issue with you.
What can I do tomorrow?
We’ll finish by bringing everything together with simple actions that businesses can consider implementing straight away.
The aim is for you to leave not simply knowing more about menopause, but thinking:
“I know what I can do differently.”
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and draw on Julie’s specialist experience supporting individuals and organisations.
Who should attend?
This session will be particularly valuable for business owners, directors, managers, team leaders and HR or People professionals, as well as anyone with responsibility for supporting colleagues and creating a positive and inclusive workplace.
Whether you employ a handful of people or are part of a much larger organisation, you’ll leave with practical ideas that can be adapted to your workplace.
