Chamber Raises £13.6k for the Princes Trust Hertfordshire
The sun was shining in St Albans on Friday afternoon setting the perfect mood for the annual St George’s Day Lunch on Friday at Sopwell House Hotel. Nearly 300 guests enjoyed a delicious 3 course lunch in the St Albans Suite at Sopwell House and then listened to guest speaker Helen Lederer actress/comedienne and long standing Princes Trust Ambassador.
Guests were then surprised by a performance spray painting (pictured) on the stage by Rich Simmons founder of ‘Art is The Cure’ which kicked of the charity auction. The stencilled piece of HRH Prince Charles was very suited to the occasion and raised £2k alone!Rich became involved with the Prince’s trust 5 years ago during a difficult time in his personal life and was awarded funds to set up a business with their support programmes.
‘Art is the Cure’ is an organisation that Rich set up in 2008 to inspire people through art therapy, created with the goal of inspiring young people to find a cure to problems such as depression, addiction, self harm and autism through art therapy and creative releases. In recognition of his hard work and strong message to help give hope to young people, Rich was awarded the Vinspired National Award for the most inspirational volunteer 2009.
