We have launched our annual Community Business Awards. These Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions that businesses and individuals make across our District and are an opportunity for you to showcase your achievements to the local business community.

So why should you get involved in this year’s Awards? Here are some reasons why entering awards can be good for business.

Raise your brand awareness

It’s free marketing! Just being shortlisted can raise your brand awareness and promote your business to new customers and markets. Our finalists and winners are sent an award logo to use in their marketing and PR to make sure people know what you have achieved.

Increase your credibility

A nomination or win is an independent endorsement of your business, acting as a sign of quality for prospects. If you are the award-winning business in your sector, customers are more likely to use you. It can give you a competitive advantage, differentiating your business from your peers.

Evaluate your business

Working through the application process forces you to look at your business from a fresh perspective and compare your business with your competitors. Looking at how you stand out from the competition through, for example, sustainability, excellence in customer service or leadership is an extremely useful exercise. It can also aid future strategy, identifying areas for improvement.

Improve employee retention and attract new talent

Recognition of the hard work and achievements of your employees can help boost morale and improve motivation. Our awards ceremony is a great opportunity to celebrate with all the staff involved. Awards can also aid with attracting talent as your business will be seen as an appealing place to work.

Nominations are now open! Our Awards are free to enter and you don’t have to be a member of the Chamber to make a nomination or to be considered for an award. A nominee just needs to live or work in our District. You can nominate yourself or your business or put forward someone who you feel has made an outstanding contribution within the business community. You can nominate as many times as you wish, providing the nominee meets the criteria of the categories you are entering. More information about the Awards can be found on our website. Nominations close Friday 20 May.
